A Tweetstorm to Remember
In what has become customary behavior for the former President, Donald Trump took to Twitter on Mother’s Day to unleash a tirade against his enemies while seemingly ignoring his wife, Melania Trump.
While many people around the world use the day to honor and celebrate the mothers in their lives, the former President took the opportunity to criticize various politicians and discuss the 2020 election, as well as call for an investigation into a “stolen election.”
Notable Omissions
Unlike the posts from his children and family members, who fondly shared pictures and paid tribute to their mothers, Trump’s barrage of tweets barely mentioned his wife or the mother of his youngest son, Barron.
While he did mention “all American moms” at some point in his tweetstorm, his glaring omission of a personalized message for Melania Trump raised some eyebrows. This is not the first time Trump has faced criticism for a perceived lack of attention to his wife on special occasions, but it remains one of his most striking oversights.
Who Made the Cut?
Among the many targets in Trump’s Mother’s Day tweetstorm were the usual suspects: Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden. The former President accused them of destroying the country and continuing to perpetrate election fraud, despite the numerous court rulings that have found no such evidence.
Despite the negativity surrounding his tweets, Trump still garnered support from some of his base, who applauded his continued dedication to “fighting” for what they believe in. Others, however, wondered why he found it necessary to create controversy on a day designed to honor and celebrate mothers worldwide.

As the year moves onward, it remains unclear how Melania Trump may feel about the absence of any direct recognition on Mother’s Day. While the former First Lady has not acknowledged the tweets, those close to the family suggest that it may not have been an accidental oversight.
As we continue through 2023, it remains to be seen whether the former President’s penchant for Twitter tirades will subside, or if personal attacks and bitter commentary will continue to replace the affectionate messages one might expect on days like Mother’s Day.
