Following months of a simmering political rivalry, the feud between former United States President Donald Trump and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie escalated this week, with Trump hitting back at Christie’s critical comments about him by parading fat jokes on Twitter.

The animosity between the two politicians intensified after Chris Christie released his tell-all book, in which he criticizes Trump’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, as well as his actions leading up to the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.

Having returned to Twitter after a long ban, Trump wasted no time using the platform as his primary weapon for lashing out at those who criticize him. The former president took to Twitter and mocked Chris Christie’s appearance, comparing the former governor to the likes of Humpty Dumpty and calling him “a big man with a small mind.”
Christie Unphased, Continues Criticism
Chris Christie, however, seemed undeterred by the barrage of jokes targeting his physique. He stayed focused on his message, describing Trump as a demagogue whose rhetoric only serves to divide the nation further.
“I’ve been attacked by him before, and I’ll be attacked by him again. But it won’t deter me from speaking the truth about his dangerous and harmful behavior,” responded Christie.

Unsurprisingly, the exchange of barbs between Trump and Christie generated varying reactions from the public. Some Trump supporters applauded their leader for his scathing takedown, while critics denounced his response as immature and unpresidential.
